Cubs Win! Fans were flying the W flag after the Chicago Cubs won their 2010 home opener 9-5 on the strength of a 3-run homer by Xavier Nady, a 2-run homer by Aramis Ramirez and a solo shot by Jeff Baker. Dempster pitched solidly enough for the victory and James Russell, Jeff Samardzija and Carlos Marmol all pitched scoreless in relief. New owners the Ricketts family were greeting fans at the entrances and in the bleachers and were the guest singers of Take Me Out to the Ball Game. Even the weather was perfect, which season fans know is a rarity at Wrigley.
